This course will entail developing the Whittle setup by using a hypothetical mine cost model and prepared/validated block model to run a comprehensive Whittle optimization. Both the qualitative and quantitative results/reports will be analyzed. This will include visualizing the optimal pit shell and exporting the economics to Excel spreadsheet to analyze the value of the optimal pit. Other inferences that can be deduced from these reports will also be discussed.

It is expected that the student at the end of the course will be able to:

• Setup a Whittle pit optimization
• Run the Whittle pit optimization
• Export and visualize both the qualitative and quantitative reports to make or come up with the appropriate strategic mine plan.
