Course / Course Details
This work/process will entail developing the Whittle setup by using a hypothetical mine cost model and our prepared/validated block model in Courses 1 and 2 to run a comprehensive Whittle optimization. Both the qualitative and quantitative results/reports will be analyzed. This will include visualizing the optimal pit shell and exporting the economics to Excel spreadsheet to analyze the value of the optimal pit. Other inferences that can be deduced from these reports will also be discussed.
It is expected that the student at the end of the course will be able to:
An experienced mining specialist with over 18 years’ surface mining experience, undertaking and overseeing surface mine planning, design, operational and cost performance, which spans from strategic, long term, medium term and short-term planning. Has oversight of other surface mining projects in terms of project cost estimates and their economic evaluations. I have held several mine engineering, production planning and its implementation roles from a graduate level to a superintendent level. Before joining Future Global Resources Mines as a Mine Planning Superintendent, rose through the ranks of a Graduate Mining Engineer to a Mine Superintendent for 11 years at Golden Star Resources. Has also previously held the position of a Senior Strategic Mine Planning Engineer at Kinross Chirano Gold Mines for 3 years where I oversaw the reopening of their surface operations, making strategic decisions which led to a higher NPV and an extended mine life within the time frame. My significant expertise spans from surface mine design, development and implementation with high safety standards and cost saving initiative. I am adept at strategic planning, employee development, and empowerment, driving impactful contributions to business objectives.
